This August Bank Holiday weekend, the beautiful medieval Church of St Peter ad Vincula in the heart of historic Coggeshall will once again be transformed for its much-loved Annual Flower Festival.

Now in its 38th year, the festival has become one of Essex’s best-loved floral events, attracting around 1,500 visitors each year from across the county and beyond.

This year’s theme, The Women Who Made Us Bloom, celebrates inspiring women whose lives, achievements and influence have shaped our communities and our history. Visitors can enjoy a stunning collection of more than 22 imaginative floral displays, each telling its own story through beautiful flowers and creative design.

Preparations have been underway since January, with around 30 talented flower arrangers working together over four days to bring the festival to life. Their dedication and creativity have earned St Peter’s Flower Festival a reputation for producing exceptional floral displays year after year.

The festival offers much more than flowers.  During the weekend, visitors can relax and enjoy live musical recitals inside the church, while The Colne Valley Endeavour Brass Band will officially open the festival.

There will also be plenty to enjoy for the whole family, including delicious homemade refreshments, the ever-popular card stall, preserves, produce, craft and plant stall, and activities to keep younger visitors entertained.  There will also be historical talks during the weekend with lots of information about our beautiful Church and the village of Coggeshall.

Admission is free, although donations towards the upkeep of this historic church are greatly appreciated.

Whether you’re passionate about flowers, interested in local history, or simply looking for an enjoyable day out over the Bank Holiday weekend, everyone is warmly invited to come along and experience this special community event.
