Baptism

Baptism is like stepping through a door and embarking on the journey to becoming and being a Christian.

It is a tangible sign of God’s welcome, acceptance and love and reflects the desire of a person or in the case of a child, their parents, to follow in the way of Jesus.

During the service you will be asked to make promises to God about the way you will live your life, and the church community will commit to supporting and praying for you.

In order to be baptised at St Peter ad Vincula or St Nicholas Chapel you will need to reside in the parish of Coggeshall, or in any of the other parishes in our benefice: Cressing, Stisted, Bradwell, Pattiswick or Marks Hall.

The other qualifying connection is to belong to and attend one of the churches in our benefice regularly. For further information please contact our Baptism Co-ordinator Justine Kneller via email: office@caup.org.uk

We offer baptisms as part of our joyful and informal family service on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 11am. There is something for everyone: video clips and stories, action songs and craft activities, and most importantly, the baptism itself. Before the baptism you will meet with the vicar or curate, who will answer any questions you may have.
